Pancakes for Parkinson’s

Pancakes for Parkinson’s is a annual philanthropic project for UNO. We plan to raise money by selling tickets for all-you-can-eat pancakes. The profits from the sales will be donated to the Wilkins Parkinson's Foundation, which promotes awareness of Parkinson's disease. This event was started by UNO in 2011, and raised around $5,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which directly funds innovative research to help find a cure for Parkinson's disease.
Multiple Sclerosis Walk

Each spring we walk 5K along with the National MS Society's Georgia chapter. Each dollar we raise goes to help those suffering from MS through research and aid for medicines.
Neuroscience for Kids

Every semester we volunteer to visit elementary schools and community centers in Athens to teach kids about science and inspire them to think about the wonders of the human brain. We take apart models of neurons, brains, and anatomical parts. We show them real sheep brains, and we play games like the "stroop test relay" and "build a pipe-cleaner neuron." Every volunteer comes away from this event with a deep sense of reward and satisfaction.
